A stalled-out and weakening frontal system can generate another shower or thunderstorm today in the DC metro region before high pressure takes control of the weather for tonight and Thursday. After a mainly clear and cool night, sunshine on Thursday will boost temperatures to the lower 80’s for afternoon highs and it looks comfortably warm on Friday to end the work week. The weekend is likely to turn much cooler and wetter as a cold front approaches the area from the west and there is a low-level flow of air off the ocean.

A colder and unsettled weather pattern returns to the Denver metro region tonight and it’ll stick around into the weekend. After temperatures peak today in the upper 60’s, they’ll have a hard time escaping the 50’s on Thursday. In terms of precipitation potential, showers and thunderstorms will be scattered today, tonight and tomorrow and it may get just cold enough late on Thursday for snowflakes to mix into the picture.

Very warm weather continues in the Tennessee Valley for the next couple of days which should feature generally rain-free conditions. The weather turns much more unsettled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a daily chance of showers and thunderstorms.  Temperatures should climb well up into the 80’s right through the upcoming weekend.

The next couple of days will feature partial sun and very warm conditions with temperatures both Wednesday and Thursday climbing well up into the 80’s.

The combination of a back door cool front stalled to our northeast and a weakening cold front approaching from our west will increase the chances for showers and thunderstorms from late today into Wednesday. Any thunderstorm that forms can be on the strong side with brief heavy rainfall and small hail. Temperatures climb towards the 85 degree mark this afternoon and will be confined to near 80 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

The passage of a back door cool front will result in a low-level flow of air today out of the east-to-northeast and this will knock off several degrees from our temperatures. In fact, temperatures this afternoon are likely to be confined to the upper 60’s for highs as compared with the 80’s on Monday. In terms of rain, there can be showers and thunderstorms this evening and a shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out on Wednesday with the combination of a stalled out back door cool front and another approaching from the west.
